Between the Stars by Shey Stahl~ARC review

Blurb:

My life is perfect. Dream wedding days away, a mansion in the hills of Nashville, a promising career in pediatric nursing. And not to mention, a wealthy southern groom willing to do anything for me.

But he’s not the one who paints a scene of passion. He’s not the cocky, arrogant, and very much forbidden man my father despises. He’s not my brother's best friend.

He’s not the one who gave me years and let me go just as easily.

And he’s certainly not the one I’m with now as thunder rolls through the canyons and his voice dances along exposed curves.

I look up, the sky burning brighter, stronger, like his love and I find myself torn between the stars. As the light fades, the smell of smoke in my hair, the flames piercing through a chalky night, his darkness stains my heart.

“I’ll never stop when it comes to you.” I watch his face, the fall of his eyes, and I’m met with the dark hallow that haunts me.

He’s not the one I should pick, but he’s the only one who knows how to kiss me without touching me.

We were shades of love, written in the stars and tethered to the shore.
Until the cracks in our plan destroyed it all.

 My Review:

It's so hard to write a review about this book. I don't know how to rate it, because I have mixed feelings about the book. This isn't a bad thing (I think). :)

So... the story was really good. It was a second chance romance. Abbi and Jace (btw I love the names) loved each other since they were teenagers, but they weren't really together, they were friends for sure, who hooked up here and there. A few years back they seperated and lived their lives far from each other. Everything changed when Abbi was engaged and Jace got a wedding invitation.

I knew before I started reading the book  that there will be cheating in it. It wasn't a problem for me, especially after I became to know Griff and his relationship with Abigal. But I didn't say that the cheating was okay, they made a mistake when they hooked up.

So I liked the storyline, I loved that it was written in alternate point of views, but I had problems with the characters.

I was angry with Abbi, how she couldn't stand up for herself. Honestly I could slap her :D But if she didn't act like she acted, Jace's actions wouldn't be so big, romantic? So maybe her behavior needed for the epic plot. :)

My biggest problem wiht Jace that he was always drinking. I understood in the beginning that he was heartbroken and lost, so he drank. But later it bothered me, he was drinking when he was with Abbi, or when he was with his friend's children. He was drunk in a lot of important event. He always had a flask with him.

The story was a perfect example that not always the smart, handsome, wealthy doctor guy the perfect for us. I think Abbi shouldn't be so indecisive. She knew who she really loved and that wasn't Griff.

Overall I liked the book, but because I didn't fall for the characters I can only give 4 *
